Founder and director

Nathan Berg

Who he is

Nathan Berg is the founder and director of Suubi Media, a video, photo and digital media marketing studio based in Bellingham and Seattle, Washington. Suubi means hope in Luganda, and the word sets the bar the studio works to: not a record of an event, but work that still carries the feeling of it.

He started shooting under the name Berg Media while he was still a student at Squalicum High School in Bellingham, and later rebranded the business as Suubi Media. He studied Communications at Wheaton College.

Today he leads a team at Suubi Media that handles strategy, shooting, editing and delivery for businesses, athletes, organizations and couples. He sets the creative standard on every assignment and stays the accountable point of contact from the first conversation to the final file.

What he shoots

Over roughly seven years Nathan Berg has worked from professional and college sidelines, including Seattle Sounders, OL Reign, UW Football and WWU Athletics. He has also covered Navy ceremonies in Everett.

Sideline work is the reason the studio shoots the way it does. Reading pace and anticipating a moment decides where a camera stands before the moment happens, and the same habit carries into every other kind of shoot the studio takes on.

He has filmed and photographed weddings since 2019, work that now runs through the studio as a full wedding service, from the morning of the day through the last dance. A wedding is covered as one continuous story rather than a list of required photographs.

On the brand and organization side he produced the I AM GRIT podcast for Gritworks Athletics. That mix of sport, business and story is the range the studio was built around.

Across all of it the job is the same: photo, film and social content that carries how something felt, cut for the people who were there and built to keep working for the business or the family long after the shoot day.

Where the work has taken him

The camera travels. Nathan Berg has shot international youth tournaments including Surf Cup in Barcelona and the JRS Number One Cup in Poland, along with work in Valencia and Miami.

The work has also taken him to Iceland, Portugal and Juneau. Travel assignments are planned the same way home ones are, with the schedule, the access and the deliverables agreed before anyone gets on a plane.

Bellingham and Seattle remain the base. Most weeks the studio is somewhere in Washington, and travel is arranged around the assignment rather than the other way round.

How to work with him

Projects start with a brief. Send the dates, the scope and what the work has to do, and Suubi Media replies with availability and a plan. The inquiry form is the fastest way in.

Businesses and organizations looking for ongoing content, campaign work or social channels run for them can start on the brands page, which sets out what the studio is usually hired to do.

Whoever ends up on the crew, the brief decides who is on it, and Nathan Berg stays the one point of contact answering for the result. Strategy, shooting, editing and delivery are handled by the studio rather than handed off between separate suppliers.
