Now hiring: editors
We're looking for editors who can make people feel something.
Suubi Media is adding two to three consistent video editors to the studio. Anyone can cut clips to a beat. We're looking for the editor who can hold a story, protect a real moment, and land an ending that stays with someone after the screen goes dark.
No résumé required first. The edit is the application.
What we're actually looking for
Story before technique
You can tell us what the piece is about in one sentence before you touch a transition. Structure, tension, and release do the work. Effects don't.
Emotional pacing
You know when to hold a shot two seconds longer, when to sit in silence, and when to cut hard. You edit to the feeling in the frame, not just to the beat.
Respect for real moments
Nothing staged, nothing forced. When something real happens on camera, you build the piece around it instead of burying it in coverage.
Sound as half the film
Music choice, natural audio, dialogue clarity, and mix levels are part of your edit, not something handed off at the end.
Color that matches the house look
Clean, cinematic, modern. Contrast with detail retained, natural skin tones, no heavy filters, and consistency shot to shot.
Consistency and communication
You hit the date you agreed to, you flag problems early, and you take notes without ego. Consistency is why this is a standing role and not a one-off.
The application is an edit
The footage is yours
We hand you real footage from a project we shot, plus the studio assets you'd have on a live job: logo files, brand colors, and type. You build the piece the way you'd deliver it to a client.
There is no form to fill out and no portfolio gatekeeping. Download the footage, cut it, and send it back. We watch every submission.
Footage is provided for this application only. It stays the property of Suubi Media and its subjects, and may not be published, reposted, or added to a public reel without written permission.
1. Take the footage
Open the folder, pull the project you connect with most, and read the short brief inside it.
2. Cut your version
Deliver one piece between 60 and 120 seconds. Horizontal, 1080p or higher, H.264, with the audio mixed.
3. Add one vertical cut (optional)
If you want to show range, include a 20 to 40 second vertical version built for social, not a cropped export of the same edit.
4. Send a private link
Frame.io, Vimeo, YouTube unlisted, or Dropbox. Include two or three sentences on the story you were telling and why you made your biggest cut.
Take the time you need. A thoughtful edit sent in two weeks beats a rushed one sent in two days.
What we'll be watching for
- Does the first ten seconds make us want the next ten?
- Did you find the moment we'd have chosen, or a better one?
- Does the sound feel intentional rather than layered on?
- Could this be delivered to a client tomorrow?
- Does it feel like something, or just look nice?
About the role
- Two to three consistent editors, working remotely with Suubi Media on an ongoing per-project basis.
- Work spans weddings, sport and athlete features, brand and commercial pieces, church and community stories, and vertical social cuts.
- Compensation is per project and discussed directly once we've seen your edit and scoped the work together.
- You supply your own editing system and software. Project media is delivered to you privately for each job.
- Credit is given where the client and subject allow it.
If this sounds like you
Send the edit. If it moves us, we'll get on a call, talk through how you work, and start you on a real project.
Email subject: Editor application. Suubi Media
Suubi Media reviews every submission individually. Submitting an edit does not create an employment relationship, and footage remains under the studio's control until a written agreement is in place.
